US TRAFFICKING HOTLINE: 1 888 3737 888

IN THE US:

* With the exception of Vegas, the problem is ubiquitous. It happens
in every community and is proportional to its size. 250,000 kids are
trafficked in the US annually. In the US American kid victims
outnumber foreign kid victims by 11-1. Each child services between
100 to 1,500 clients per year.
* Traffickers get some of their victims through abduction, but most
commonly they use the promise of love and support that are quickly
twisted into psychological dependence, heinous and continuous
physical and psychological abuse.
* Common recruiting grounds for pimps and traffickers are: schools,
malls, parks, bus stops, and movie theaters.
* In the US only one of five missing kids are reported to the police.
80% of the cases no one is even looking for the kids. They are
“throw away” kids.
* If there are a quarter million victims in the US, there are ten
times that many people willing to pay to have sex with kids. These
predators are created directly through the addiction to pornography.
* It is an economic crime. It needs a supply of victims, and a demand
of people willing to pay to have sex with kids. If you take away
either one of these than this phenomena will collapse.
* Approximately 800,000 people annualy are trafficked across national
borders. Around 80 percent of these victims are women and girls and
up to 50 percent are minors. The majority of females are trafficked
into commercial sexual exploitation. (2007 Trafficking in Persons
Report, U.S. State Department)
* 45,000-50,000 persons are trafficked into the U.S. each year;
15,000 of them are children. (ECPAT-USA)About $28 billion of this
is generated from commercial sexual exploitation. (International
Labor Organization)
